What to expect

The highlights of this cruise

On this cruise, the sun-drenched Aegean Sea presents itself to you full of contrasts. The EUROPA 2 takes you from island to island and offers you the perfect symbiosis of jet-set flair, culture, history and lifestyle.

When you wake up in your suite the morning after departing from Piraeus (Athens), the first dream destination – Santorini – lies in front of your veranda. Visit the quaint villages of Megalochori* and Pyrgos* with their blue-and-white houses nestled against the crater rim. A touch of history awaits you further south on Crete setting out from Agios Nikolaos: the excavation site of Knossos* offers you many an insight into Greek antiquity and a village idyll. After a stay on the largest Cycladic island Naxos, you will reach lively Mykonos, a hotspot with jet-set flair. Stroll through the narrow, winding streets and enjoy the Greek hospitality. In Bodrum, a boat trip on a traditional gulet* offers breathtaking views of the Turkish town and heavenly bays. Paros, which is known for its wonderful beaches and traditional villages, also offers time for a little relaxation. Pure maritime history can be experienced up-close on Hydra with its proud captains’ houses and mansions. The island is very popular with wealthy Athenians. Back in the port of Piraeus (Athens), the EUROPA 2 will then bid you farewell.

  • At anchor

  • Thira, also known as Santorini, has a fascinating history. The town is located on a volcanic island and was once a thriving Minoan settlement. Today, the ruins of Akrotiri are an impressive archaeological site that offers insights into ancient life. The characteristic architecture of Thira, with its whitewashed houses and blue domes, is also worth seeing. The breathtaking view from the cliffs of Oia and the famous sunset are a must-see. Santorini offers a rich history, breathtaking landscapes and unique attractions such as the caldera, the archaeological area of Akrotiri and the island’s beautiful beaches.
  • The town of Agios Nikolaos was built around a natural freshwater lake and is home to the relics of an ancient civilisation. Lake Voulismeni is a popular meeting point with charming cafes. The island of Spinalonga, a former leper colony, is an impressive spot to visit nearby. From Agios Nikolaos, you can also visit the famous archaeological sites of Knossos and Phaistos. With its rich history, picturesque surroundings and proximity to other historical sites, Agios Nikolaos is the ideal starting point to explore Crete.
  • On Naxos, you can visit the Portara, the ruins of the ancient Temple of Apollo. The medieval castle, picturesque villages such as Apiranthos, and beaches like Agios Prokopios and Plaka are also well worth a visit.

  • Famous as a popular destination for sun, beach and nightlife, Mykonos was once an important trading post and a refuge for pirates. The town of Chora, with its narrow streets and charming white houses with blue shutters, is worth exploring. The famous windmills on the hill of Mykonos are an emblem of the island and offer breathtaking views. The island of Delos, a short boat ride from Mykonos, is an archaeological gem and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can explore the ancient ruins and immerse yourself in Greek history. Mykonos is a perfect place to enjoy the vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches and rich history of the island.

  • Bodrum is a picturesque city with whitewashed mud houses spilling, densely packed, down the hillside. To the north of Bodrum are the important archaeological sites of Miletus and Didyma. Miletus was once the biggest city in the ancient world. The Milesian school of thought was founded there in the sixth century, with the result that Miletus is now heralded as the birthplace of philosophical and scientific tradition. The temple at Didyma is simultaneously a place of pilgrimage and the site of an oracle dedicated to the god Apollo.
  • Hydra is the main town on the island of the same name and a sleepy fishing village, whose white houses snuggle into the cliffs just like a huge amphitheatre.
