The highlights of this cruise

Five countries lie on this varied route along the sun-drenched Atlantic coast. Let yourself be pampered on board the EUROPA 2 and look forward to fantastic impressions.

“Moin” is the motto in Hamburg. With this casual greeting, the crew of the EUROPA 2 welcomes you warmly. After a day at sea, Antwerp awaits you, the home of the famous painter Peter Paul Rubens. Discover the brilliant artist on a guided tour of the museum*. In Honfleur, France, you can look forward to an exclusive tour in a “Duck”, or Citroen 2CV**, through Normandy and to the elegant seaside resort of Deauville*. It will be “very British” by the time you reach the Channel Islands. Soak up the flair in St Helier on Jersey and take an extraordinary tour in a vintage bus* in Saint Peter Port on Guernsey The charm of romantic fishing villages, thatched cottages and wild nature make Cornwall unique. On a drive from the Isle of Portland, discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge*. Quite different but equally enchanting and more than idyllic is the natural beauty of the Isles of Scilly, St Mary’s and Tresco. After a day at sea, the south-western coast of France is in sight: head up the Gironde River to Bordeaux amidst beautiful scenery. Sample fine wines at Chateau de La Dauphine*, relax on a boat trip* in the bay of Arcachon and enjoy freshly caught oysters*. In Bilbao, a visit to the Guggenheim Museum,* an architectural jewel, is a wonderful way to end your cruise. In the largest city of the Basque country, the EUROPA 2 will bid you farewell.

  • At anchor

  • Antwerp is one of the oldest and biggest cities in Flanders and the centre of the world's diamond industry and diamond trade. The tradition of diamond-cutting has been nurtured and developed here for more than five centuries. Brussels, Belgium's capital city, de facto capital of the European Union, and headquarters of NATO, boasts a large number of historic buildings that are well worth a visit, while the collections in the museums have a worldwide reputation. At the heart of the city of Ghent is Europe's mightiest moated castle. From here, on a stretch no more than 500 m long, numerous magnificent structures soar skywards, uniting to present an impressive picture of medieval city architecture.
  • Stroll through the picturesque old town of Honfleur with its half-timbered houses, historic Vieux Bassin port and the famous church of Sainte Catherine. Learn more about the town’s maritime history in the Musee de la Marine or discover the works of art in the Musee Eugene Boudin. From Honfleur, you can go on excursions to see the impressive cliffs of Etretat, the Normandy landing beaches or the enchanting beach resort of Deauville.

  • The Isle of Portland peninsula is a large limestone rock in the English Channel. It has a rich maritime history and is a favorite destination for water sports enthusiasts, walkers, and nature lovers. Portland is also known for its Georgian architecture and its closeness to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast.

  • Welcome to the Isles of Scilly. This idyllic region off the coast of Cornwall offers a variety of unforgettable experiences. Walk along the picturesque coastal paths and discover the fascinating flora and fauna. Visit the historic sights such as Tresco Abbey Gardens or St Mary's Museum to learn more about the rich history of the islands. The Isles of Scilly are a real insider tip for nature lovers and provide memorable experiences in an idyllic setting.
  • Bordeaux has a fascinating history going back to the Roman Empire. As a major port, the city was a centre of trade and seafaring in the Middle Ages. The region is famous for its fine wines, especially red wine from the nearby Medoc, Saint-Emilion and Pessac-Leognan vineyards. The picturesque vineyards, castles and wineries attract wine lovers from all over the world. Bordeaux is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and will captivate you with its elegant architecture, including the impressive Place de la Bourse and the historic old town. The city is also a cultural centre with famous museums, theatres and events such as the Bordeaux Wine Festival.
  • Bilbao, a city in the Basque Country, was once a major trading port, which experienced an economic upturn in the 19th century thanks to mining and the steel industry. Today, Bilbao is famous as the home of an architectural gem, the Guggenheim Museum, which was designed by Frank Gehry. The impressive structure in curved titanium and glass houses an extensive collection of contemporary art. Bilbao is also famous for its delicious Basque cuisine, especially the delicious little snacks known as pintxos. With over 345,000 inhabitants, Bilbao is a lively city, which charms its visitors with its culture, history and modern attractions.
