What to expect

The highlights of this cruise

Follow the call of the wild and enjoy unforgettable days in the realm of the big five. Madagascar’s unspoilt nature makes explorers’ hearts beat faster as travel dreams come true.

CAPE TOWN, lit up in the evening, bids you farewell to a magnificent time on board the EUROPA. After a relaxing day at sea, the gateway to the African wilderness opens up to you for the first time in GQEBERHA, formerly Port Elizabeth: with a little luck, you can spot elephants, giraffes and zebras on a safari in the Amakhala Game Reserve*. Be inspired by the multicultural flair and beautiful beaches in DURBAN or learn more about Zulu customs in the Valley of 1,000 Hills*. After visiting MAPUTO, the capital of Mozambique, the island of BAZARUTO welcomes you off the east coast of Africa. The unspoilt natural beauty of Madagascar is an invitation both to explore and unwind on NOSY BE. Spend relaxing hours on the beach or keep an eye out for chameleons and lemurs in Lokobe* Reserve. Near ANTSIRANANA in northern Madagascar, you can uncover the exotic secrets of the rainforest in Montagne d’Ambre National Park* before your fascinating cruise ends in the SEYCHELLES.

  • Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, is a vibrant coastal city in South Africa, favoured for its pretty beaches and rich history. As the gateway to the Garden Route and the Addo Elephant National Park, Gqeberha is the perfect base for nature and wildlife lovers. The city is famous for its miles of sandy beaches such as Kings Beach and Hobie Beach, which offer ideal conditions for water sports, swimming and sunbathing. Along the coast, the Donkin Heritage Trail passes historical landmarks, including the Donkin Reserve with its iconic lighthouse and pyramid, from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the city. Culture vultures can visit the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum or stroll through the vibrant markets selling handmade artworks and local specialities.
  • Durban, the lively coastal city on the east coast of South Africa, is a dream destination for sun worshippers, surfers and culture vultures. With its subtropical climate and year-round warm weather, Durban is particularly known for its gorgeous beaches along the famous “Golden Mile”. Here you can surf, swim or simply relax on the beach. The city also offers a fascinating mix of cultures and history. A visit to the Kwa Muhle Museum provides insights into rich Zulu customs and the eventful history of the region. In Durban itself, the vibrant evidence of immigration from India is reflected in the architecture as well as the culinary scene while the nearby uShaka Marine World is a highlight for nature and animal lovers. This huge aquarium offers spectacular marine animal shows and aquatic fun for the whole family. Just a short drive away is the Valley of 1,000 Hills, where breathtaking landscapes and authentic cultural experiences await visitors.
  • Unwind on the island in the Indian Ocean and relax while sunbathing or swimming.
  • Nosy Be, the idyllic island off the north-western coast of Madagascar, is a dream destination for nature lovers and beach buffs. Known as “the fragrant island” due to its ylang-ylang plantations, Nosy Be enchants visitors with its palm-fringed beaches, crystal-clear water and vibrant underwater world. A particular highlight is Lokobe Reserve, where visitors can discover lemurs, chameleons and exotic plants. Nosy Be is also famous for its volcanic crater lakes, such as Mont Passot, which offers a breathtaking view over the island.
  • Antsiranana, also known as Diego Suarez, is located in the far north of Madagascar and features breathtaking landscapes, crystal-clear waters and a fascinating history. The city, which was once an important harbour during the colonial era, today exudes a unique charm that captivates visitors. Experience the lively atmosphere of the colourful markets, where the chatter of the locals and the scent of exotic spices fill the air. Let yourself be tempted by the diversity of Madagascan cuisine comprising fresh fresh seafood and regional ingredients. The surrounding area offers a variety of activities for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
