Find your cruise nowOn 14 September Karl J. Pojer, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, was presented with the coveted Travel Industry Manager 2015 award. The award, which was created by the Travel Industry Club and is presented each year in recognition of the most impressive people and services in the tourism industry, was handed out for the eighth time. The awards ceremony was held on the eve of the fvw Kongress conference in Essen/Germany.
The tourism industry reached a consensus: a panel of 110 experts and major figures in the tourism industry voted Karl J. Pojer the Travel Industry Manager 2015. Dirk Bremer, President of the Travel Industry Club, said of Pojer’s distinction: “Karl J. Pojer is the most successful manager in the industry; in a short space of time, he completed the turnaround through extensive restructuring, a new portfolio strategy, a clear focus on target groups and streamlined products and brands. Additionally, Pojer restored the promising outlook of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and made it the undisputed market leader within the luxury and expedition cruise segment.”
“To be named Travel Industry Manager of the Year is a truly special honour and one which I am proud to receive. The award is a wonderful distinction and a symbol of gratitude for all of the work carried out by our team, and it also belongs to all of my colleagues ashore and on board who actively supported me from day to day. It feels good to know that Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is back on course for success”, said Karl J. Pojer.
Since 2008 the Travel Industry Club has presented various awards to the top managers in the cruise industry, as voted for by the panel of experts on the eve of the fvw Kongress. Alongside the more general Travel Industry Manager of the Year, awards are presented to winners from the business travel, retail and sales management segments and for the Best Marketing Campaign. The ceremony took place in the presence of 400 invited guests from the cruise sector.
