Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Launches Its 2015-2017 HANSEATIC International Expedition Cruises Brochure

  • Exceptional expedition voyages to Antarctica, Arctic, Amazon, the South Seas and Chilean Fjords
  • Eleven international (English/German) cold and warm water expedition cruises

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has revealed to the English-speaking marketplace its new November 2015 – May 2017 HANSEATIC Expedition Cruises brochure, offering a total of eleven, adventurous and enriching itineraries operated in English and German on board the world’s only 5-star* expedition ship. As she did in 2014, HANSEATIC will once again sail the Northeast Passage, which remains a great seafaring challenge to this day. Guests can also experience the beauty of the Arctic and Antarctica on board the expedition ship with the highest ice class. The very popular cruises into the Amazon, to the South Seas islands and Chilean fjords are also being repeated.

Expedition to the Northeast Passage

In August/September 2014, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises wrote cruise history twice as the HANSEATIC premiered traversing the Northeast Passage as the first non-Russian passenger ship – and reached the northernmost point for a passenger ship. The HANSEATIC will once again brave this great pioneering endeavor on a 27-day cruise departing Tromsoe/Norway on August 16, 2016, concluding in Nome/Alaska/USA on September 10, 2016. Rates start at €20,264 ($24,320, £15,200), per person, including charter flight from Nome to Vancouver, cruise-only. Expedition Antarctica – four cruises to choose from

Guests on board HANSEATIC’s Antarctica expeditions will encounter a fascinating land of extremes: mighty glaciers and majestic icebergs are interspersed with huge colonies of penguins and the realm of whales. Since it has the highest ice class for passenger ships, the HANSEATIC is in its elements well away from civilisation and will take guests right into the wonderland of Antarctica.

Cruise example: “White Paradise – Limitless Experiences”: a 20-day itinerary departing from Ushuaia/Argentina on February 15, 2016, concluding in Buenos Aires/ Argentina on March 6, 2016. Highlights of this expedition cruise include: South Shetland Islands (Deception Islands), Paradise Bay, sailing through the Neumayer Channel, landings at the Penola Strait. HANSEATIC will also take guests through the narrow Lemaire Channel, spectacular peaks on both sides make this waterway one of the world’s most beautiful shipping passages. Weather permitting, guests will visit the oldest, permanently-inhabited research station in the Arctic on South Orkney Islands. Rates start at €11,391, ($14,811, £9,690) per person, cruise-only. Expedition Amazon

Guests will step into the zodiacs of the HANSEATIC and discover, along narrow and winding waterways, the power and magic of the gigantic Amazon river, which defines the rhythm of South America. HANSEATIC’s small size and shallow draught enables her to travel the more than 4,000-kilometre-long passage from the mouth of the Amazon in Belem/Brazil to Iquitos/Peru and back. The HANSEATIC features two bilingual Amazon river cruises accompanied by renowned experts:

Cruise example 1: “On the River of Life”: a 16-day itinerary is from April 10-26, 2016, from Iquitos/Peru to Belem/Brazil. This expedition features passing through the Breves Channels in the Amazon Delta.

Rates start at €8,066 ($10,488, £6,859), per person, including charter flight from Lima to Iquitos, cruise-only. For more information see online at: http://www.hl-cruises.com/find-your-cruise/HAN1606
