Hospitality and culinary excellence: three-star chef Kevin Fehling on board MS EUROPA on seven cruises this year

With the accolade of Gault&Millau 2025 under his belt – and an award of five black toques for the first time – the celebrated three-star chef Kevin Fehling is setting out on a Grand Voyage. His restaurant on the EUROPA, THE GLOBE by Kevin Fehling, which was created in close collaboration between the talented culinary star and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, has been delighting gourmets on the high seas for over five years. Fehling has now announced that he will be on board during seven cruises in 2025, which can be booked at www.hl-cruises.de/kevin-fehling. 

Ever since it was commissioned, the EUROPA, like its sister ship the EUROPA 2, has been awarded as the “best cruise ship in the world” by Insight Guides Cruising & Cruise Ships, formerly the Berlitz Cruise Guide. The small ship, which has a maximum capacity of 400 guests, combines exclusive cruise culture with outstanding cuisine. Kevin Fehling, who once began his career as sous-chef on the EUROPA, has found a second culinary home in THE GLOBE alongside his restaurant THE TABLE in Hamburg. Since 2019, his gourmet restaurant on board has paid homage to the world’s variety of flavours, inspired by exotic aromas, bright colours and the incomparable scents of international cuisine.

A strong anchor: culinary excellence

As with all five restaurants on board the EUROPA, dining at THE GLOBE is included in the cruise price. The perfectionist Kevin Fehling leaves nothing to chance. He places great importance on getting every detail right – from the selection of ingredients to flawless service. That is why he is regularly on board himself. Over the next few months, he will spend a total of 20 days on board in person, pampering guests at THE GLOBE, training his team and introducing new dishes.

A home at sea

“My time on board and travelling around the world have shaped me personally as well as my cuisine. It is characterised by different encounters and latitudes. Engaging in dialogue with guests and pampering them is more than just a job for me. It’s pure joy!” says three-star chef Kevin Fehling. “Every time I step on board the EUROPA, and THE GLOBE in particular, it feels like coming home. A sense of arrival and yearning at the same time, of cohesion and perfection. For me, the EUROPA is much more than a ship – she is part of me.”

From the EUROPA to the top of the chef elite

Even when Kevin Fehling is on land, the cuisine at THE GLOBE remains at the highest level, thanks to his experienced team. Dennis Ilies, who was Fehling’s sous-chef for twelve years and also regularly excelled on the EUROPA, recently moved to the Gourmet Restaurant Tannenhof in Austria. There he promptly earned two Michelin stars. Proof that the cuisine of the luxury ship is on a par with the most prestigious restaurants ashore.

When you take a seat at THE GLOBE, you will find a small, personal welcome letter from Kevin Fehling on your plate. In it, he also reveals the ingredients that inspired him for the menus.
