Saint-Barthelemy, also known as St Barts, is a living legend among the Caribbean islands. The small capital, Gustavia, attracts visitors with impressive yachts in the harbour and the cosmopolitan jet set that has settled here since the 1950s. The island, which covers 21 km² (8.1 m²), impresses with its palm-fringed beaches such as the quiet Plage de Saline, the Anse du Gouverneur with its crystal-clear water and the lively Plage de Colombier. Gustavia itself invites you to discover its luxury boutiques and world-class restaurants – a perfect blend of Caribbean beauty and exclusive luxury that makes St Barts one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world.
Tip from our travel concierge*:
Relaxing hours on your private yacht: experience St Barts from the water on board an exclusive motorboat. You can stop for a swim or snorkel whenever you like. Let your gaze wander across the sparkling water, enjoy the Caribbean flair and treat yourself to refreshing drinks.
Tropical rainforests and lush mountain slopes surround Portsmouth - the island nation's second largest community in the north of Dominica, known as ‘The Nature Island’: the dramatic landscape of rivers, lakes, waterfalls and white beaches makes the island a paradise for nature lovers. The Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers unspoilt nature and diverse wildlife, including around 150 bird species. The national plant Bwa Kwaib, whose bright red flowers adorn the rainforest, is also particularly impressive.
Surrounded by white sandy beaches and green hills, Marigot Bay is one of the most idyllic bays in the Caribbean: it invites you to swim, snorkel and relax and is a popular place for sailors to drop anchor. Charming restaurants line the shore and offer a selection of local and international cuisine. Its peaceful atmosphere makes Marigot Bay the perfect retreat for enjoying the beauty of nature and the Caribbean way of life.
Tip from our travel concierge*:
Sailing trip with a snorkelling stop: scenic sail along the west coast of the island with views of the majestic Pitons on board a private French-build yacht. Go on a snorkelling tour and explore the Caribbean underwater world.
Bonaire, the second largest of the Caribbean ABC islands, offers a mixture of colourful nature and a fascinating underwater world. The name of its capital Kralendijk translates as “coral dyke”, which refers to the fantastic coral world that stretches off the coast in the Bonaire National Marine Park. While the hilly north of the island boasts exotic species of birds and tropical vegetation in the Washington-Slagbaai National Park, the Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary in the flat south attracts nature lovers with one of the largest flamingo colonies in the world. Bonaire is a paradise for snorkellers and explorers alike.
Curacao, the largest of the ABC islands, enchants visitors with its Dutch flair and the colourful houses of Willemstad. The capital features impressive sights such as Fort Amsterdam, the oldest synagogue in the Caribbean and the floating market. The natural harbour of Schottegat is one of the most popular destinations for visitors who wish to enjoy the Caribbean way of life and culture. Curacao’s nature is also inspiring: sandy snow-white beaches, turquoise-coloured water and a fascinating underwater world invite you to explore to your heart’s content, as does the world-renowned marine aquarium.
Surrounded by lush jungle, Ocho Rios, a small town in the north of Jamaica, developed into a popular destination for holidaymakers from the 19th century. Although the name Ocho Rios means “eight rivers”, only three actually flow into the turquoise-blue bay. Today, visitors will find everything they need for a wonderful holiday – from beautiful beaches to the famous Dunn’s River Falls with romantic waterfalls and natural pools in the middle of the rainforest. The original fishing village has developed into a lively coastal town that perfectly captures the spirit of Jamaica.
