What to expect

The highlights of this cruise

Say goodbye to the winter blues early: enjoy the onset of the warmer time of year on the spring-like Canary Islands and the flower island of Madeira while hiking through invigorating nature or exploring the charming towns of the island.

With the first rays of sunshine, you will reach TENERIFE, whose natural riches await you on an excursion into the volcanic landscape of the Canadas del Teide National Park*. EL HIERRO is not short on beauty either: laurel forests, juniper trees and lava formations characterise the island, which has been declared a biosphere reserve. LA GOMERA is considered magical – a hike through the moss-covered Cedar Forest* or whale watching* off the coast will also enchant you. Let yourself drift through the pretty island capital on LA PALMA before tasting the delicacies of the La Geria* wine-growing region on LANZAROTE. The EUROPA stays overnight on MADEIRA: a wonderful opportunity to savour the diversity of the flower island to the full.

Golf & Cruise

On our exclusive Golf & Cruise voyages, we have reserved the best golf courses for you in advance and put together attractive basic packages.

Basic package: Three courses - € 1,450 per person
Golf pro on this cruise: Peter Martin - more about our pros

On this Golf & Cruise voyage, golfing adventures await on the European Atlantic islands. The islands, all of which are volcanic, are blessed with lush flora and fauna. So you can look forward to in-depth encounters with nature and countless views of the Atlantic Ocean. A cruise that offers more than “just” golfing experiences.

  • Wed, 04.03.2025, Santa Cruz, Tenerife (Spain) – Buenavista Golf at Melia Hacienda del Conde
Golf legend Severiano (Seve) Ballesteros designed one of his favourite golf courses in the far north-east of Tenerife near the Teno mountains. Wide, very playable fairways unfold on the volcanic terrain, giving every level of player a real chance. Only the bunkers that Seve loves so much have to be navigated intelligently around on the way to the finish. The clubhouse in the centre of the course is certainly exceptional, offering wonderful panoramic views of the fairways from its terrace.

Fri, 06.03.2025, San Sebastian, La Gomera (Spain) – Tecina Golf
The elongated layout of this course with its breathtaking 18 holes is found on a volcanic spur in the south of the island. The mostly straight fairways are located in a closely spaced fashion overlooking the Atlantic on a kind of high plateau. This location results in some very exciting holes with final “green areas”. The mixture of the green of the fairways and the blue of the Atlantic is sure to inspire passionate golfers.

Wed, 11.03.2025, Funchal, Madeira (Portugal) – Clube de Golf Santo da Serra
The oldest golf course on the island was established in 1937 at this location almost 1,000 m (3,280 ft) above sea level. The altitude of the course means that the climate is independent of the rest of the island. We recommend having a light jacket in your bag, as the temperatures will be very different from those in the harbour. The course itself is divided into two halves that stretch out from the clubhouse. The first nine holes plunge downhill towards the west in the direction of the cliffs, whereas the second nine spread out leisurely on a plateau behind the clubhouse. In general, you will be playing on mostly very sweeping fairways that are forgiving of the occasional shot.

    General Information

    • In order to guarantee a comfortable flow of play for all golfers, we have determined a basic speed, which is sufficient for a playing time of 4.5 to 5 hours on foot (covering 18 holes with a trolley).
    • Due to tournaments, renovations, etc. at the various golf clubs, our Golf & Cruise programme is subject to change at short notice.
    • Golf & Cruise voyages allow all players with a handicap of 36 or less to play on courses all over the world.
    • Additional courses can only be booked in conjunction with the basic package.
    • The reservation of e-carts cannot always be guaranteed due to local availability and weather conditions. You may, therefore, have to play and walk just with trolleys - possibly even on hilly courses. Please consider this when planning/booking your Golf & Cruise package.
    • Halfway refreshments are always ordered via the respective golf club; we have no influence on the quality of the snacks. We kindly ask for your understanding.
    • When booking a Golf & Cruise package and flights through Hapag-Lloyd, we will register your golf equipment directly with the airlines – when possible and required. The current baggage regulations of the relevant airline apply. In your travel documents, which you will receive about four weeks prior to departure, you will find relevant information about this. Excess baggage fees for golf equipment are normally to be paid at check-in.
    • Minimum number of participants for basic packages: 12 persons.
    • Minimum number of participants for additional courses: 10 persons.
    • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, cancellation will occur no later than eight weeks prior to cruise departure.
    • Rental clubs for right-handed and left-handed players are available on board, subject to a surcharge.
