Benjamin Herzl
Violinist Benjamin Herzl (*1994) is acclaimed by both audiences and critics for his "virtuosic perfection" and "high musicality." He is a scholarship holder of the Mozartgesellschaft Dortmund, a prizewinner of the International Brahms Competition, and the recipient of the Mozart Prize, awarded by Vadim Repin.
He received his education at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the universities of music in Vienna, studying with Christian Altenburger and Julian Rachlin. At the age of 13, he made his debut at the International Mozart Festival Mannheim and has since performed on prestigious stages, including the Wiener Konzerthaus, Örebro Concert Hall, Wiener Musikverein, Brucknerhaus Linz, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Teatro Malibran Venice, and Konzerthaus Dortmund. He is a regular guest at festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the International Music Festival Póvoa de Varzim, the Maifestspiele Wiesbaden, the Grafenegg Festival, and the Mozart Festival Havana, among others. In the 2024/25 season, Herzl made his debut with the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper. In 2026, he will perform for the first time at the main hall of the Berlin Philharmonie with the Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin under Nil Venditti. Herzl is the artistic director of Concerti Corti, a festival in Salzburg founded in honor of the director Axel Corti. He plays the "Ex Guilet" Joseph Guarnerius violin from 1732, generously loaned by the OeNB.
