The wonders of the Arctic don’t just come to you – you have to seek them out. The same goes for Svalbard and north-east Greenland. On a flexible course, you will experience adventures in secluded places, such as Hornsund with its majestic mountain ranges. A landing on Barents Island will surprise you with a colourful, blooming landscape and perhaps reindeer. On Nordaustlandet, you may be lucky enough to spot walruses. Perhaps you’ll catch sight of the “king of the Arctic”? The best way to watch polar bears is from the deck of the ship or from a Zodiac at a respectful distance. The mighty Monacobreen can be marvelled at in the Liefdefjord. No less spectacular are the Smeerenburgfjord and the blue-and-white 14th July Glacier. Ny-Alesund, one of the northernmost settlements on earth, is the focus of climate research. The cruise continues with superlatives: Scoresbysund shows Greenland’s icebergs in almost unbelievable solitude. Probably only surpassed by the Northeast Greenland National Park, the largest of its kind, which is only accessible by a small expedition ship: deserted and with an alpine landscape. Mighty peaks line the King Oscar Fjord – just as imposing as the triangular island of Ella Island with its almost 1,200 m (3,937 ft) high rocky flank. In the labyrinth of the Kaiser Franz Josef Fjords, steep rock faces alternate with glacier snouts from which icebergs drift into the sea. On Clavering Island and Sabine Island, you will find traces of earlier expeditions on hikes with your team of experts. The final experience of your cruise is marked by Iceland with Patreksfjordur – one of the many memories you will take home with you.

---- The ice conditions determine the course here (see map).

The itinerary depends on official approval, weather and ice conditions. The natural experiences and wildlife sightings described are possibilities on this expedition and are not guaranteed.
