From there, follow the call of the wild to go bear watching* – an experience that we also offer as an organised excursion from Wrangell and Ketchikan on this cruise. On Kodiak Island, you will gain insights into lush green nature and what was once Russian America. Cruising in the Tsaa Fjord reveals peaks, waterfalls and ice as you approach the active Hubbard Glacier. Afterwards, your eventful journey through Alaskas Inside Passage begins, for which the small, manoeuvrable HANSEATIC inspiration will take plenty of time. The reward: natural scenery such as Chichagof Island, the summer home of humpback whales. With only around 30 inhabitants, Elfin Cove tells of life in the wilderness. When cruising in Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm, you will be amazed by rock faces, glaciers and possibly whales and sea lions. The Tlingit totem poles on Kupreanof Island narrate plenty of fascinating stories. Charming Petersburg welcomes you as “Little Norway” with its colourful stilt houses. Picturesque Wrangell is one of Alaska’s oldest settlements. Ketchikan features a busy harbour and is the starting point for a variety of experiences. The course then takes you through British Columbia’s Inside Passage for two days – enjoy your box seat on deck as islands, mountains and small settlements pass you by.

The use of on-board Zodiacs is currently not permitted in Alaska. When the ship is at anchor, the ship’s tender boats will be used.
