    The highlights of this cruise

Like delicate origami, this cruise crafts new images each day, starting in Japan: explore the volcanic island of Rishiri and the seafood paradise of Okushiri on hikes with your experts. From Hakodate, the focus is on the volcano, birdlife and vegetation in Onuma Quasi-National Park* – as well as from Kushiro, in Akan Mashu National Park* with its bubbling sulphur fumaroles. The cruise then continues along the Pacific Ring of Fire. With an abundance of fish, seabirds, seals and whales, the island arc of the Aleutian Islands is a fascinating habitat. You can also trace the eventful history of Adak Island, a former military base that is now practically a ghost town. Things get a little livelier as you cruise off Chagulak Island in the company of thousands of petrels. There is always a good chance of spotting orcas and humpback whales. Dutch Harbor on Unalaska Island tells the story of Russian America. The important history of fishing comes to life on Popof Island. On the Alaska Peninsula, you will gain insights into life in the fishing town of Chignik. Will you spot Steller sea lions off the bird-inhabited cliffs of Kak Island? If you’re lucky, you might catch sight of bears while cruising in Katmai National Park. Take in the main town on Kodiak Island or the dense forest and coastal panorama in Fort Abercrombie State Park*. Experience Alaska’s nature around Homer actively – whether on a hike* to the glacial lake or on flight excursions* for bear watching. When cruising at the Aialik Glacier, the natural spectacles of this cruise will then draw to a mighty close.

The itinerary depends on official approval and the weather conditions. The natural experiences and wildlife sightings described are possibilities on this cruise and are not guaranteed. The use of on-board Zodiacs is currently not permitted in Alaska and is subject to official approval in Japan. When the ship is at anchor, the ship’s tender boats will be used in Alaska.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC inspiration

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC inspiration took place in Hamburg on 11 October 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC nature (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more! HANSEATIC inspiration was launched in October 2019.
