Leave your everyday life behind and experience special places full of art and enjoyment as well as nature and culture: from Marseille and Cannes, rediscover “l’art de vivre” – for example, during a worldwide unique artistic multimedia show* in a quarry and a visit to the famous perfume house Fragonard* in Grasse. For Calvi on Corsica, our travel concierge recommends a flight over the spectacular coastal scenery**, enjoying the breathtaking views. From France, set course for the Italian Riviera. Here you can look forward to a gourmet lunch followed by an olive oil tasting* in the glamorous coastal town of Portofino. Italy is not only known for its exquisite food, but also for its art treasures. That’s why Livorno is the perfect starting point for an excursion to impressive Florence* or Pisa*. If you would like to take a little time out from culture afterwards, immerse yourself in island life in Portoferraio on Elba. Or set off from Porto Santo Stefano on a romantic excursion to the tuff rock towns of Sovana* and Pitigliano*. Then, in Civitavecchia (Rome), it will be time to say: “arrivederci, EUROPA 2!”

  • Calvi is one of Corsicas most beautiful cities with a small old town filled with winding alleyways and squares dating back hundreds of years. Calvi is the ideal starting point for an excursion into the neighbouring area, especially to see the typical Corsican macchia. Macchia is an exuberant and enchanting mixture of thorn-covered and prickly sclerophyllous plants, trees, bushes and grasses. Typical plants include the common rock rose, phillyria, arbutus, myrtle, broom, buckthorn, thyme, lavender, fennel and rosemary. A special feature of Corsica are the tafoni, created by the weathering of medium to coarse-grained stones. They look somewhat like honeycomb and can be found in an extraordinary variety of shapes.
