In autumn 2023, the HANSEATIC inspiration will sail from Milwaukee to Halifax – combining the Great Lakes and the St Lawrence River - a first-time route for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. During the Indian Summer in 2023 and again in 2024, the small and manoeuvrable expedition ship will take guests to the North American Great Lakes a total of four times. Thanks to the ship’s retractable bridge wings, the HANSEATIC inspiration is predestined for the locks and channels of the lake landscape.
Sailing on, stunning natural spectacles in South and Central America are on the agenda. In November 2023, the ship will embark on a route from Colon to Valparaiso, passing through the legendary Panama Canal during a daytime passage, then reaching the Chilean fjords. From December 2023 to February 2024, the ship will be positioned in the classic expedition destination of Antarctica, reaching Brazil in spring. From there, the HANSEATIC inspiration will set off on another first, making its first two itineraries on the Amazon.
In May 2024, the HANSEATIC inspiration will operate two cruises in the North and Baltic seas before commencing the Arctic season, during which multiple circumnavigations of Spitsbergen will take place.
For those with a pioneering spirit, travellers, for the very first time, can choose to set sail from Tromso in July 2024, cruising to both Franz Josef Land and north-east Spitsbergen in one cruise - combining uniquely, two of the most remote island groups in the Arctic. Passengers have the opportunity to explore remote uncharted territory, participate in hikes with the experts, go on active polar exploration during zodiac rides and with luck observe walruses and whales from the ship’s deck. From there Iceland and Greenland feature on the cruise routes before returning back to the Great Lakes of North America in Autumn 2024.
Launched in October 2019, the HANSEATIC inspiration is equipped with the highest ice class for passenger ships (PC6), featuring cutting-edge technology and the latest environmental standards such as shore power facilities and SCR catalytic converters. As well as all the ships in the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleet, the HANSEATIC inspiration operates without heavy fuel oil, using low-pollutant marine gas oil with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 % instead. Sailing the world’s oceans, experienced scientists and experts will be on board sharing their knowledge with guests, who at the same time enjoy the renowned, highest standards of comfort and service.
The 230-passenger HANSEATIC inspiration (199 passengers only in Antarctica/Spitsbergen regions) is one of three ships in the new expedition class from Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and caters for the international/English-speaking marketplace. The language aboard her sister ships HANSEATIC nature and HANSEATIC spirit is German. The small and manoeuvrable vessels travel to some of the world’s most remote regions; and are equipped with retractable glass balconies on the pool deck, a deck track at the bow as well as many open deck areas, from where guests can watch the passing landscape from the ‘front row’.
