The port city of Recife lies in the north-east of Brazil. The Santo Antonio neighbourhood is well worth a visit to see its typically Dutch canal architecture and colourful tiled facades. Take a stroll across the impressive Republic Square and a trip to the nearby small colonial town of Olinda*, nowadays a hub of artists and creatives. Or explore the “Venice of Brazil” with a boat trip* and then visit a cachaca distillery* to learn all there is to know about how the famous sugar cane spirit is produced.
