After some island-hopping in the Indian Ocean, your route takes you to the south-east coast of Africa, sailing from the breathtaking islands out in the ocean to the mainland known for its sensational fauna and exquisite wine. In recent decades, the entire region has gained a reputation for unique wildlife and has also become a hotspot for international golf design, meaning that this cruise to the south of the African continent is a true treat for golfing connoisseurs.
Tue 01.02.2022 Port Louis, Mauritius – Mont Choisy Golf
The 18-hole course in the north of the island is one of the newest in the country. Broad, well-formed fairways allow players of all abilities to obtain a good result. Only the very open holes could potentially be substantially affected by gusts from the Indian Ocean, which should definitely be taken into account in your game strategy.
Tue 08.02.2022 Durban, South Africa – Durban Country Club
The 18 holes that lie right on the Indian Ocean are counted among the best in the region. The course was established in 1922 and its playing areas are greatly influenced by the natural dune landscape. The twelfth hole with its raised green is still known as the “Prince of Wales” hole, named after the British prince who in 1924 needed 17 strokes to make his final putt.
Fri 11.02.2022 Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa – Humewood Golf Club
Since 1929, the rugged dune landscape of Algoa Bay has been home to a challenging links course layout. This traditional 18-hole course was practically key to establishing South Africa’s golfing tradition and has hosted many international tournaments. A beautiful place to play on the coast of the Indian Ocean.
Sat 12.02.2022 Mossel Bay, South Africa – Pinnacle Point Golf Club
You’d be forgiven for thinking the design of this 18-hole course devised by Peter Matkovich came from America. Six of the 18 holes run straight along the steep coastline of Pinnacle Point on the Indian Ocean. These holes alone are enough to provide everlasting memories for any golfer – a thoroughly mystical symbiosis of golfing and nature to round off this Golf & Cruise voyage in style.
