Fri 09.03 Mount Maunganui (Tauranga) – Fairview Country Club (additional course 1)
Founded in 1904, this club has moved three times within the local area. The existing 18 holes were redesigned in 1968 by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones to fit the current terrain. Some of the beautifully tended fairways are lined with mature trees. Players should watch out for the water hazards on the first nine fairways, which are rather short. On the second nine fairways, long, accurate shots are required. All in all, a course that demands concentration and skill.
Sun 10.03 Napier – Cape Kidnappers Golf Course
This course requires a great deal of concentration from players. It is situated high up on a plateau, right on the east coast of the North Island. The holes were designed to fit the local terrain. Each ball position gives rise to new, spectacular views, which can easily distract players from the task at hand. As well as a few extra balls, make sure you pack your camera! Please note: due to the short lay time, you will play nine holes today.
Tue 12.03 Wellington - Royal Wellington Golf Club
Situated in the uplands of the “Windy City”, this city course was opened in 1895 and redesigned in 2013. This 18-hole parkland golfing adventure is often exposed to the wind. The extremely wide, rather strongly modulated fairways do not always work in your favour. The round is traditionally opened by a starter who keeps an eye on the players’ feet. Only white golf socks and shoes with soft spikes are permitted. However, white knee socks are preferred.
Thu 14.03 Port Chalmers – Otago Golf Club
The historic Otago Golf Club, founded in 1871, has a picturesque 18-hole layout and is renowned as one of the top golf courses in the South Island. Its hilly terrain, quality fairways and greens will challenge all levels of golfer.
Tue 19.03 Hobart – The Tasmania Golf Club
Tasmania Golf Club was opened for play on 16 January 1971 by the State Governor, Sir Edric Bastyan and the new course was immediately embraced by members. Today, Tasmania Golf Club is widely regarded as the best golf course layout in southern Tasmania.
Thu 21.03 Melbourne – Kingston Heath Golf Club
Kingston Heath is one of the Golf Clubs of the world famous Melbourne Sandbelt and has hosted numerous national championships including nine Australian Opens, 2 Australian Masters and hosted the 2016 World Cup of Golf. A long course at over 6800 yards when it opened, it is now on the short side of what is regarded as 'championship' length but its genius is that it can still defend itself against the finest players. More importantly, it is a course to constantly stimulate and challenge those who play it with regularity.
