Swing meets pop
Las Vegas – there is hardly a city in the world as polarised as this one. It is associated with glitter, glamour, money and, of course, with Frank Sinatra. Las Vegas – there is hardly a city in the world as polarised as this one. It is associated with glitter, glamour, money and, of course, with Frank Sinatra. Excited by an old-fashioned lifestyle and based on the idea of forming a modern rat pack that combines pop hits with cool swing, three experienced musicians founded the band Vintage Vegas in early 2013.
It consists firstly of smart Italian singer Giovanni Zarrella, who has sold almost five million records and has the same love for swing as his Italian heroes Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
And then there’s Tom Marks who, as a trained pianist and singer, has also composed and produced for other artists for many years. The charming Polish musician has already given numerous performances all over Europe and is both singer and producer for Vintage Vegas.
The band is completed by Inan Lima, the friendly Brazilian who is not only a passionate singer and percussionist; he has also been on stage with stars such as Joe Cocker, Zucchero, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
The crossover concept of Vintage Vegas boasts unique arrangements and its own specially compiled 18-member big band consisting of musicians from the SWR and WDR big bands. With cover songs such as “Only Man In The World”, “Hangover”, “Einmal Um Die Welt” and “Auf Uns”, as well as their own creations “Here I Am”, “For Once In My Life” and “Der Beste Mann”, the band appeals to typical swing fans and friends of good pop music alike.
Vintage Vegas will be for swing what Dick Brave is for rockabilly and Il Divo are for classical music.
