“Kids in America”, “Cambodia”, “Keep me hanging on” or “You came” – the opening beats of her songs already make listeners casually tap with their feet. The unmistakable sound of Kim Wilde is synth-pop at its best. The young Brit struck a chord in her era, and no less than the youth of an entire generation grew up with her music. Kim Wilde is an icon of modern musical history and, now as then, she inspires a global audience with a good dose of musical nostalgia. Ten years ago, the singer surprised audiences with her successful comeback with fellow star Nena at her side and the German-English remake of her massive hit “Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann – Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” (2003). Her fans were overjoyed. Since then, she has produced several albums including the chart-topper “Come Out and Play” (2010), performed at a number of live concerts and toured at festivals throughout Europe. Yet there is no trace of the cool understatement of the former queen of pop. With a 40-strong orchestra and a gospel choir or rock band in tow, this fully matured artist puts the pedal to the metal and creates emotional highlights with covers of her own favourite songs from artists ranging from The Cure to David Bowie. In March 2014, Kim travelled to Berlin for the first show of her Rock Meets Classic Arena Tour, followed by 20 appearances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland where she performed with artists including rock legend Alice Cooper.
