PGA golf pro Olaf Schäfer

Olaf Schäfer has been a fully qualified golf professional of the PGA of Germany since 1999. After professional roles at golf courses in northern Germany, he discovered the world of cruises and started working with Golf & Cruise in 2008. He has the highest grade from the PGA of Germany (G1) and successfully completed his training to become a PGA Health Professional in 2018. From then on, he has devoted particular attention to golf and well-being and uses his expert knowledge to answer any questions on these topics. On board and ashore, his golf instruction combines analytical skills with passion and individuality.

A golf cruise in the Persian Gulf means games in golfing oases. Some of the courses seem unreal and you may feel like you are standing before a mirage, but this dream really has come true.

This 18-hole links adventure sits right by the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 racetrack and Ferrari World. The elongated course designed by Kyle Phillips is the first real links course in the Arab region. The fairways have some strong modulation in places and feel never-ending as they sweep through the unspoilt desert sand and outer reaches of the Persian Gulf, promising an exciting round of golf.

Greg Norman has conjured up a very special golfing oasis between the beach and desert, where every tee box is an experience. The golf professional has skilfully managed to integrate interesting perspectives of the surrounding landscapes into almost every hole.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• In order to guarantee a comfortable flow of play for all golfers, we have determined a basic speed, which is sufficient for a playing time of 4.5 to 5 hours on foot (covering 18 holes with a trolley).
• Due to tournaments, renovations, etc. at the various golf clubs, our Golf & Cruise programme is subject to change at short notice.
• Golf & Cruise voyages allow all players with a handicap of 36 or less to play on courses all over the world. 
• Additional courses can only be booked in conjunction with the basic package.
• The reservation of e-carts cannot always be guaranteed due to local availability and weather conditions. You may, therefore, have to play and walk just with trolleys - possibly even on hilly courses. Please consider this when planning/booking your Golf & Cruise package. 
• Halfway refreshments are always ordered via the respective golf club; we have no influence on the quality of the snacks. We kindly ask for your understanding.
• When booking a Golf & Cruise package and flights through Hapag-Lloyd, we will register your golf equipment directly with the airlines – when possible and required. The current baggage regulations of the relevant airline apply. In your travel documents, which you will receive about four weeks prior to departure, you will find relevant information about this. Excess baggage fees for golf equipment are normally to be paid at check-in.
• Minimum number of participants for basic packages: 12 persons.
• Minimum number of participants for additional courses: 10 persons.
• If the minimum number of participants is not reached, cancellation will occur no later than three weeks prior to cruise departure.
• Rental clubs for right-handed and left-handed players are available on board, subject to a surcharge.
