A kingdom for a golf course – or, even better, golfing in a kingdom! The cruise starts in southern England and travels around Ireland before heading to the west of Scotland. Golfing doesn’t get more British than this.
Wed 22.06.2022 Fowey – Lanhydrock Golf Club
This parkland course in the middle of Cornwall is highly influenced by the rows of trees that accompany the fairways. However, the fairway routes are very clear. Just keep going straight ahead. Even if you end up under the trees, there are always opportunities to keep your game going, allowing players of all handicaps to achieve a decent score.
Fri 24.06.2022 Kinsale – Cork Golf Club
Spanning 6,192 m (20,315 ft), this course is over 100 years old and was created by Alister MacKenzie, who also worked with Bobby Jones on the Masters course in Augusta. Here in Cork, however, things are not quite so elite. The limited space available for the course has created an interestingly compact layout. When teeing off, you will often find yourself playing over the green you have just completed. A somewhat unusual game at times, but it certainly has its charms.
Sat 25.06.2022 Bantry – Bantry Bay Golf Club
This blend of parkland and links course features very hilly fairways. Stunning views of neighbouring Bantry Bay are offered throughout the course. Given the topography, it is recommended that you use a golf cart. The traditional, historic layout will spring some surprises throughout your game – occasionally you’ll find yourself playing over the green of the neighbouring fairway.
Sun 26.06.2022 Dingle – Dingle Links – additional course
This links course on Ireland’s west coast was opened in 1924. To this day, each of the fairways bears a Gallic name. This club has a suitably traditional atmosphere. In addition to a special golfing experience, enjoy the extremely attentive hospitality of the local golfers.
Tue 28.06.2022 Londonderry – Ballyliffin Golf Club – Glashedy Course
A classic links retreat awaits, with some very heavily modulated playing surfaces. From the start, the terrain impresses with elevated tee positions that allow a view of the manageable landing areas. Those who can give their ball the right direction will reach fast, large greens with striking flag positions. By the way, the view of the surrounding terrain all the way out to the Atlantic Ocean is a massive distraction. - Anyone who comes home to the clubhouse with a good score here can look forward to a particularly successful round of golf!
Sat 02.07.2022 Leith – Dalmahoy Golf Club
“Golfing the British way” could be the slogan for this 36-hole course. The East and West Courses are both outstanding parkland courses. In good weather, Edinburgh Castle can sometimes be seen in the distance. At 6,767 m (22,201 ft) from the back tee, the East Course is described as a monster by the club itself. The West Course offers a gentler game.
