The “gateway to Sicily” is home to an impressive cathedral from the 12th century and a bell tower with the largest astronomical clock in the world. Not far away, the beautiful little town of Taormina* with its famous ancient theatre lies at the foot of Mount Etna. Alternatively, a classic car trip* in an original Fiat 500 takes you to the village of Savoca, one of the locations in the classic film The Godfather.

Delve into the local offering of fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables with a trip to the market*, before sampling the Sicilian cuisine for yourself. One particular highlight is Mount Etna*, Europe’s largest active volcano, which you can explore with a tour by cable car and all-terrain vehicle to around 2,900 m (9,514 ft) above sea level.
