    The highlights of this cruise

Set out from Hamburg for the west coast of France on the Atlantic. Spend a relaxing day at sea before heading ashore to enjoy the (literally) picturesque sights of Normandy: HONFLEUR is situated on the mouth of the Seine and has inspired artists including Boudin and Monet. Spend a few hours in the restaurants and galleries in Enclos, a delightfully labyrinthine district dating back to the 13th century. The medieval fortifications of ST. MALO will seem imposing at first glance the following morning, yet they open onto an equally inviting old town. Lovers of antiquities and local specialities should absolutely not miss out on taking a stroll around. The monastic island of Mont Saint-Michel* towers over a bay to the east. The wonder of the western world has been enthralling pilgrims for centuries with relics believed to belong to the archangel Michael.

The Iberian Peninsula is the home of the great seafaring nations. Portugal prides itself on its explorers and has immortalised them in LISBON with the Padrao dos Descobrimentos on the banks of the Tagus. Today, its modern diversity and nostalgic charms make the capital city a special experience in its own right. The melodies of fado echo through the narrow streets in the evening – the Portuguese say that you have to try it yourself, so take the opportunity and follow your curiosity. One of the most beautiful ways to find out more about the history of Spain is a walk through MALAGA, for instance to the Castillo de Gibralfaro.

Besides a breathtaking view of the coast you will find the Alcazaba fortress of the Moors, which is often referred affectionately to as the “little Alhambra”. The “true” Alhambra* is close to Granada and houses extensive gardens, bubbling fountains and the fantastically decorated chambers of the Nasrid emirs. The EUROPA will also stay overnight in VALENCIA. Spend the day visiting its numerous sights including the Gothic architecture of the silk exchange, the Moorish elements of the old town and the futuristic City of Arts & Sciences. Yet do not miss the night life in the Barrio del Carmen district in the evening.

The picturesque town of SÉTE will welcome you back to the French coast. Surrounded by water and divided by canals, it deserves its nickname “little Venice”. Even now, the inhabitants of this laid-back town are largely dependent on fishing and if you visit the market you can try traditional freshly caught specialities. Montpellier* will welcome you with its bustling, happy lifestyle. The people here know how to enjoy the famous French concept of savoir-vivre in the historical setting of this modern university city. The rural paradise of Provence awaits you in the vicinity of TOULON whilst the international jet set love to converge on the Cote d’Azur*. Taking in the view of the harbour over a cafe au lait in Quai Jean Jaures is the perfect way to bring your cruise to an end before you set off for home in Nice the next morning.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

Thu 13.09 HONFLEUR – DEAUVILLE SAINT-GATIEN GOLF CLUB
You will be met by extremely large greens once you overcome the rather narrow fairways of this 27-hole course. Situated in the French countryside, this course integrates harmoniously into the otherwise agricultural landscape. The terrain of the course is therefore straight and level. This course promises a highly diverse golfing experience for players of all handicaps.

    Fri 14.09. ST.-MALO / SAINT-CAST-LE-GUILDO - GOLF DE SAINT CAST PEN GUEN
This 18 holes Links Course begins at the sea level, then goes up to a plateau that offers a splendid panorama on the Emerald Coast.

Tue 18.09 LISBON – PENHA LONGA GOLF CLUB
Its aura extends far beyond Europe. One of the top courses in Europe is on the itinerary. This typical resort course presents a tough yet fair challenge to players of all handicaps. The course gives every player a chance – they just have to embrace its peculiarities. It is a very harmonious course that makes the best possible use of the natural landscape. There are good reasons for this course being chosen to host the Portugal Open on several grand occasions.

Thu 20.09 MALAGA – LA CALA RESORT
A dramatic course but easier for the average golfer, with generous fairways, flatter terrain and slightly larger greens than Campo America and Asia. Notable for one main bridge and four smaller bridges across the River Ojén, which features in eight holes, cutting across three fairways.

Sat 22.09 VALENCIA – LA GALIANA GOLFCLUB (ADDITIONAL COURSE)
La Galiana Golf is a golf course with a 18 hole round, Par 72, situated in the Barraca de Aguas Vivas between Valencia and Alicante; has been designed by the company Moon Masters -The result is a course buried in a valley with wide and well defined fairways, with some spectacular views, in the middle of nature.

Tue 25.09 TOULON – GOLF DE FREGATE
This golf course is situated high up on a plateau and features fairways lined with mature trees. Due to the layout of the course, however, the walking route requires a good level of fitness. Players also need to carry a good amount of balls here due to the terrain – if your ball goes astray, you’ll probably have a hard time finding it again in the foreseeable future.
